A new Air Force manual that provides detailed information on mentoring within the Air Force, including the definition, program benefits and objectives, has been published.

Air Force Manual 36-2643, Air Force Mentoring Program, incorporates information from, and supersedes, AFI 36-3401, Air Force Mentoring Program.

"Effective mentoring is an excellent tool to ensure Airmen continue to meet near-term threats and have the capacity to be ready for future missions," said Dr. Patricia McGill, chief of senior leader development. "Mentorship supports and strengthens relationships of accountability and responsibility among Airmen."

The Air Force fosters a mentoring culture by encouraging and expecting Airmen to be mentors and mentees.

Attachment 2 of the manual provides a comprehensive mentoring toolkit for successful mentoring. Mentoring is an essential ingredient in developing well-rounded, professional, and competent future leaders.
