Davis-Monthan AFB wins installation excellence award

Air Force leaders announced the winners of the 2012 Commander-In-Chief's Annual Awards for Installation Excellence and Special Recognition program March 26.

Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., won this year's award and will receive $1 million for quality-of-life improvements.

Four personnel and 8 units from Davis-Monthan AFB were named as "Special Recognition" winners for exemplary achievement in support of installation excellence.

The individual special-recognition winners are:
- Capt. Raymond Boyer, 355th Fighter Wing Chapel;
- Senior Master Sgt. Aubry Herrera, 355th Fighter Wing Judge Advocate Office
- Airman 1st Class Christopher Farris, 355th Logistics Squadron
- Else Milner, 355th Force Support Squadron.

The unit winners are the 335th Civil Engineer Squadron, 355th Contracting Squadron, 355th Aerospace Medical Squadron, 355th Fighter Wing Staff Judge Advocate Office, 355th Medical Group Biomedical Science Corps Team, 355th Force Support Squadron Sustainment Services Flight, and both the 357th and 358th Fighter Squadron Flying Training Units.

Barksdale Air Force Base, La., received runner-up recognition and will receive $500k.

The award, established in 1984, recognizes the outstanding efforts of people who operate and maintain Department of Defense installations and effectively use their resources to support the mission.
