All of the events at this year's Air Force Marathon sold out Sept. 14.

The last spot was sold in the marathon's 5K event, closing out a field of 12,000 runners that will take part in the 14th annual event Sept. 17 and 18.

"We are extremely proud that so many people have taken notice of this great event," said Molly Louden, the Air Force Marathon director. "This is going to be such a great opportunity to put the Air Force and the Miami Valley on display for people from all over the world."

According to Ms. Louden, the Air Force Marathon has race caps for each event: 3,000 participants for the full marathon, 5,000 participants for the half marathon, and 2,000 participants for the 5K and 10K.

"We had to raise the caps this year because it's become so popular," Ms. Louden said. "When we hit 10,000 runners this year, we just knew we were going to sell out the event."

The 2010 Air Force Marathon will kick off with a Sports and Fitness Expo at the Ervin J. Nutter Center on Sept. 16. The Sports and Fitness Expo is open to the general public.
