Aug. 18 airpower summary Published Sept. 1, 2010 SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFNS) -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and International Security Assistance Force troops in Afghanistan during operations Aug. 18, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here. Air Operations in Afghanistan Close-Air Support Remak Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity which joint terminal attack controllers deemed successful. Mushan Air Force A-10C Thunderbolt II pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and performed multiple strafing runs over enemy targets to deter enemy activity. JTACs called the engagements successful. Sheykabad Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrews released precision-guided munitions against an enemy target to deter enemy activity. JTACs declared the engagement successful. Chahar Bagh Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon and A-10C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The F-16C pilots conducted a show of force over an enemy position, while the A-10C pilots strafed an enemy target to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers called the engagements successful. Lashkar Gah A-10C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The pilots conducted a show of force with flares over an enemy position and performed multiple strafing runs over an enemy target to deter enemy activity. Helmand Province C-130 and C-17 Globemaster III aircrews flew combat-airdrop missions in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 60,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces. Nuristan Province A C-130 aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Nuristan Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 22,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
