Air Operations in Afghanistan Close-Air Support Sar Banadar Navy F/A-18C Hornet pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted multiple shows of force with flares which ground controllers called successful Kandahar Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The pilots conducted multiple strafing runs over enemy positions to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and joint terminal attack controllers called the engagements successful. Asmar Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and JTACs declared the engagements successful. Chahar Bagh Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet and F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrews conducted shows of force to deter enemy activity which ground controllers deemed successful. Ghazni Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force with flares to deter enemy activity which JTACs declared successful. Lashkar Gah F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and performed a strafing run over an enemy position to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and JTACs called the engagements successful. Sangin F/A-18C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and a conducted show of force which JTACs deemed successful. Oruzgan A-10 pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted shows of force with flares to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and JTACs called the engagements successful. Soltani F/A-18E pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of presence with flares to deter enemy activity which JTACs declared successful. Remak F/A-18E pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force with flares to deter enemy activity which JTACs deemed successful. Airlift Action Badghis Province An Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Badghis Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 24,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces. Paktika Province An Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 48,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
