Aug. 1 airpower summary Published Aug. 5, 2010 SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFNS) -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and International Security Assistance Force troops in Afghanistan during operations Aug. 1, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here. Air Operations in Afghanistan Close-Air Support Sangin Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrews released missiles against enemy targets to deter enemy activity. On-scene joint terminal attack controllers and ground controllers declared the engagements successful. Asmar Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force which ground controllers declared successful. Lashkar Gah Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots and F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The pilots performed strafing runs over enemy targets to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers and JTACs declared the engagements successful. Tarin Kowt Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity. The pilots released precision-guided munitions over several targets to deter enemy activity. JTACs called the engagements successful. Gardez Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews released precision guided munitions against an enemy position to deter enemy activity. Oruzan A-10 pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Airlift Action Dai Kundi An Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Dai Kundi Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 36,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces. Helmand An Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew combat-airdrop missions in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 60,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces. Kandahar Province A C-130 aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 29,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces. Zabul Province C-130 Hercules aircrews flew combat-airdrop missions in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 69,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
