July 12 Airpower Summary Published July 17, 2010 SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFNS) -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and International Security Assistance Force troops in Afghanistan during operations July 12, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here. Air Operations in Afghanistan Close-Air Support Konduz Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The pilots conducted a show of presence with flares and a show of force to deter enemy activity. On-scene joint terminal attack controllers and ground controllers declared the engagements successful. Gardez Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The pilots released precision guided munitions against an enemy position to deter enemy activity. Kandahar F/A-18E pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and conducted a show of force which ground controllers declared successful. Asmar Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews and F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrews conducted shows of force to deter enemy activity. Airlift Action Badghis Province Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrews flew combat-airdrop missions in Badghis Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 70,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces. Helmand Province A C-17 aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 70,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
