Air Operations in Afghanistan

Asmar
Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews and an Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew provided armed overwatch and close-air support for friendly forces and a friendly forces convoy. F-15E aircrews observed enemy forces posing an imminent threat to friendly forces and released precision-guided munitions against the enemy position, which destroyed it. Aircrews also conducted shows of force to deter any further enemy activity. When friendly forces reported taking enemy fire, B-1B aircrews released precision-guided munitions against enemy positions, which ended enemy fire. Last, F-15E aircrews released precision-guided munitions against an enemy position, eliminating a threat to friendly forces. Ground controllers declared the engagements successful.

Sangin
A B-1-B aircrew provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. When friendly forces came under enemy fire, the aircrew released precision-guided munitions against enemy positions. Enemy fire ceased and ground controllers declared the engagements successful.

Chahar Bagh
Coalition aircrews and Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Both aircrews conducted shows of force, one with a flare launched, to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers declared the shows of force successful.

Khanabad
F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity, which ground controllers declared successful.

Mshan
F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch following detonation of an improvised explosive device. Pilots conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity in the area. Ground controllers declared the show of force successful.

Paktya
Air Force F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of force, which ground controllers declared successful.

Monari
