Close-Air Support

Ghazni
Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Friendly ground forces reported nearby enemy forces and the pilots conducted a show of presence and show of force to deter enemy activity. On-scene joint terminal attack controllers declared the actions successful.

Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrews observed suspicious activity in vicinity of friendly forces and conducted a show of force to deter possible enemy action. Ground controllers confirmed the show of force was successful.

Asmar
F-15-E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrews conducted a show of force to deter anti-Afghan forces activity. Ground controllers confirmed the show of force successful.

Bagram
F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrews conducted a show of force and a show of presence, both with flares launched, to deter enemy activity. Ground controllers declared both actions successful.

Morghab
F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrews conducted a show of force to deter anti-Afghan forces activity. JTACs declared the show of force successful when no activity was noted.

Later, an Air Force B1-B Lancer aircrew provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and a friendly-forces convoy. The aircrew conducted a show of presence when a threat of imminent attack against the convoy was reported. The convoy arrived safely at its destination.

Bastion
A-10 pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The pilots conducted shows of force, expending flares, to deter enemy action when rocket-propelled grenade and small-arms fire were reported. Ground controllers declared the shows of force successful.

Zabul Province
An Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 35,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Badghis Province
A C-130 aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Badghis Province, Afghanistan, delivering 30,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Oruzgan Province
An Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Oruzgan Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 71,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Helmand Province
A C-130 aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 4,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
