Air Operations in Afghanistan Close-Air Support Helmand Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet aircrews provided armed overwatch for coalition forces. Coalition forces reported taking enemy small-arms and rocket-propelled grenade fire, confirmed coordinates of an enemy bunker position and passed coordinates to the aircrews. One of the aircrews released a precision-guided munition against the enemy bunker, destroying it and stopping enemy fire. On-scene joint terminal attack controllers confirmed the strike as successful. Abchakan Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch for a friendly-forces dismounted patrol.
