April 27 airpower summary Published April 29, 2010 SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFNS) -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and International Security Assistance Force troops in Afghanistan during operations April 27 according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here. Air Operations in Afghanistan Close-Air Support Asmar Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and surveillance for suspicious activity. Asadabad F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. When friendly forces reported taking enemy fire from several locations they passed confirmed coordinates to the aircrews. The aircrews released precision-guided munitions against the enemy positions, eliminating the positions and stopping enemy fire. Almar An Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew provided armed overwatch for a friendly-forces dismounted patrol. The friendly patrol reported taking enemy fire and was currently observing suspicious activity along an adjacent ridgeline. After coordinates were confirmed, aircrews released a precision-guided munition . The engagement eliminated the threat to friendly forces. Ghazn F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly and conducted a show of force, with flares launched, to deter enemy activity in the area. Paktika Province An Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-resupply mission in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, airdropping 70,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces. Badghis Province A C-17 aircrew flew a combat-resupply mission in Badghis Province, Afghanistan, airdropping 72,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces. Oruzgan Province C-130 and C-17 aircrews flew combat-resupply missions in Oruzgan Province, Afghanistan, airdropping 30,000 pounds and approximately 70,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
