Close-Air Support

Asadabad
Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and escort for a friendly-forces convoy. Friendly forces reported receiving enemy small-arms fire and aircrews conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity. Later, the F-15E aircrews released precision-guided munitions against enemy fighting position, which ended enemy fire. On-scene joint terminal attack controllers declared all actions successful.

Gereshk
Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for a friendly-forces convoy and friendly-forces patrol. The aircrews conducted shows of force to break contact with enemy forces when friendly forces reported taking enemy fire. The shows of force were confirmed successful by ground controllers. The aircrews also provided armed overwatch for a friendly-forces convoy that had encountered an improvised explosive device.

Ghazni
Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots and F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrews and pilots conducted shows force to deter anti-Afghan activity. Ground controllers declared the shows of force successful.

Remak
Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The pilots conducted a show of force, with flares launched, when Afghan forces reported enemy small-arms fire at a nearby compound. The show of force was declared successful by ground controllers.

Asmar
F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrews conducted a show of presence to reassure friendly forces. The show of presence was confirmed successful by ground controllers.

Paktika Province
An Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-resupply mission in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 11,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

A C-130 aircrew also flew a low-cost low-altitude combat-airdrop mission in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 1,200 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Zabul Province
A C-130 aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 35,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
