Armed Forces Chaplaincy Center dedication set for May 6

The dedication ceremony for the Armed Forces Chaplaincy Center is set for May 6. The new center will provide religious training and education for Air Force, Army and Navy chaplain corps personnel.

In 2005, a Base Realignment and Closure mandate directed that the Naval Chaplains School in Newport, R.I.; the Navy's Religious Program Specialist School in Meridian, Miss.; and the Air Force Chaplain Service Institute at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., move to Fort Jackson, home of the Army Chaplain Center and School. The Army, Navy and Air Force chaplaincy schools will remain independent but are now collocated to form the AFCC.

Chaplain (Col.) Steven E. Keith will be the director of the new AFCC as well as the commandant of the newly renamed Air Force Chaplain Corps College.
