Close-Air Support

Morghab
Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrews conducted a show of force to deter anti-Afghan activity in the area. The show of force was confirmed successful by ground controllers. 

An Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilot provided armed overwatch of friendly forces. The pilot conducted shows of force, with flares launched, to deter enemy fire on the friendly forces. Ground controllers reported the shows of force to be successful.

Tarin Kowt
Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The pilots conducted a show of presence, with flares launched, to deter enemy activity in vicinity of the friendly forces. Ground control confirmed the show of force was successful.

Monari
F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrews conducted shows of force when friendly forces reported receiving enemy small-arms fire. The shows of force were confirmed successful by ground controllers when enemy fire ceased.

Tirgari
F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrews conducted a show of force, with flares launched, to deter anti-Afghan activity and break hostile contact. Joint terminal attack controllers confirmed the show of force was successful.

Chahar Bagh
An Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew provided armed overwatch for a friendly forces dismounted patrol and reconnaissance for suspicious activity in the area. The aircrew conducted a show of force to deter enemy fire on friendly forces when an attack seemed imminent. The show of force was declared successful by joint terminal attack controllers.

Airlift Action

Zabul Province
An Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew combat airdrop missions in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 30,000 pounds of sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Oruzgan Province
C-130 and C-17 Globemaster III aircrews flew combat-resupply missions in Oruzgan Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 33,000 pounds and 72,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Herat Province
A C-130 aircrew flew a low-cost low-altitude combat-airdrop mission in Herat Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 1,200 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
