The Air Force and Navy chaplain schools have relocated to the Armed Forces Chaplaincy Center at Fort Jackson, S.C. Between June 2009 and February 2010 both staffs occupied a former elementary school annex on Fort Jackson. The transition to the new facility is now complete.  A dedication ceremony is planned for 6 May 2010.

During the transition period both schools continued training chaplain corps personnel. In January, the Naval Chaplaincy School and Center graduated 18 chaplains from the Supervisor Course, the first course to be held in the new facility. Graduation for the NCSC's Basic Chaplain Course was March 31 with 28 chaplains enrolled. The next Senior Supervisor Course will begin May 3.

The Air Force Chaplain Corps College graduated 40 chaplains from the Preaching and Homiletics course on Feb. 3.  Dr. Mike Milton, president of Reformed Theological Seminary in  Charlotte, N.C, was the subject-matter expert for the class.

The first AFCCC formal courses held in the new facility were the Intermediate Chaplain Course and the Wing Chaplain Course. Both courses were in March. The Basic Chaplain Course and the Chaplain Assistant Apprentice Course takes place from April 12 to May 21.

"The transition to the new Armed Forces Chaplaincy Center presented enormous logistical and educational challenges," said Chaplain Steven Keith, commandant of both the AFCC and the AFCCC. "However, the transition team and my entire staff overcame every challenge to complete the transition."
