Close-Air Support


Asmar
Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly ground forces. Aircrews released precision-guided munitions against an enemy fighting position to neutralize enemy fire. Ground controllers confirmed success.

Abchakan
F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch and reconnaissance for friendly ground forces. Shows of force, some with flares launched, were conducted to deter anti-Afghan activity in the area. Ground controllers reported the shows of force successful.

Parmakan
Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots conducted shows of presence, with flares launched, to deter enemy action in the area. The shows of presence were declared successful.

Sheykhabad
F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for Afghan National forces and coalition forces. Shows of force were conducted to break hostile contact then deter further anti-Afghan forces activity. The shows of force, with flares launched, were deemed successful by Joint Tactical Air controllers. Later, aircrews provided armed overwatch for a dismounted patrol and a convoy.

Gereshk
A-10 pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. A show of force was conducted to deter enemy small-arms fire in the vicinity of friendly forces. The show of force was deemed successful by Joint Tactical Air Controllers when no enemy action occurred.

An Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew combat-resupply missions in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 34,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Zabul Province
A C-130 aircrew flew combat-resupply missions in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 34,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
