Air Operations in Afghanistan:

Close-Air Support

Asmar
Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews released numerous precision-guided munitions to suppress enemy small-arms fire from several positions near friendly forces during a medical evacuation operation. The weapon releases were deemed successful. Later, small-arms fire erupted from a separate position. The aircrews released additional precision-guided munitions, ceasing enemy fire and achieving the ground commander's intent.

F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews working with an Air Force MC-12 Liberty aircrew provided armed overwatch to friendly forces. The aircrews received a request to release precision-guided munitions against enemy fighting positions. The engagement was declared a success by ground control when the enemy positions were destroyed.

F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch and performed a show of force, releasing multiple flares, to deter enemy activity. The show of force met the ground commander's intent.

Surkhabad

Konduz
F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews conducted shows of force to deter enemy activity against friendly forces who were attacked with small arms and rocket-propelled grenades. The aircrews' actions were declared successful.

Landar
Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. A show of force was conducted above friendly forces at the ground commander's request. The show of force was declared successful.

Lashkar Gah
Coalition aircrews conducted aerial reconnaissance above multiple areas of known enemy activity. The fliers identified suspicious personnel and conducted shows of force to deter enemy activity. The aircrews later conducted additional shows of force to support friendly forces receiving heavy and small-arms fire. The shows of force were considered successful.

Kandahar
F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews conducted a show of force to deter enemy action against Coalition forces. The show of force was declared successful.

Airlift Action

Paktika Province
An Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-resupply mission in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 34,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Zabul Province
A C-130 aircrew flew a combat-resupply mission in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, airdropping approximately 35,000 pounds of fuel to friendly forces.
