AFSOC hosts physical ability stamina test for special tactics Airmen

The Air Force Special Operations Training Center staff is scheduled to host a physical ability stamina test at 7:30 a.m. March 12 at the Special Tactics Training Squadron for applicants interested in joining the pararescue, combat control or special operations weather career fields.

Applicants will be evaluated on a 500-meter swim, 1.5-mile run, pull-ups, sit-ups and push-ups.

Individuals whopass the PAST will be given certified score sheets for cross training. Those whodon't pass will be offered mentorship in areas needing improvement.

Pararescuemen are paramedics who can locate and save injured personnel in any environment. They can defend their patients and themselves during combat or special operations missions.

Combat controllers are Federal Aviation Administration-certified air traffic controllers who deploy first into hostile or denied territory to survey and secure assault and landing zones. They can guide military aircraft or direct precision attack from fighters and bombers.

Special operations weather team members are meteorologists who provide immediate and accurate weather information and forecasts behind enemy lines. They're proficient in a multitude of lightweight weather and communications equipment in addition to weapons.
