Feb. 26 airpower summary Published Feb. 28, 2010 SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFNS) -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and International Security Assistance Force troops in Afghanistan during operations Feb. 26 according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here. Air Operations in Afghanistan: Close Air Support Farah, An Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew provided armed overwatch for friendly forces searching a compound then conducted a show of force in support of a convoy receiving enemy small-arms and rocket-propelled grenade fire, as well as dismounted ground forces pursuing enemy combatants. Shurakian Coalition pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of force to support friendly forces taking enemy fire. The show of force was successful. The pilots continued to several known enemy firing positions and searched compounds for signs of enemy activity. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted shows of force to deter hostile activity in the area. The shows of force were declared successful when no enemy action was noted. Oruzgan An Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew provided armed overwatch for friendly forces at a checkpoint. Aircrews conducted several shows of force to deter potential enemy activity in the area.
