1 killed after car runs Luke gate Published Feb. 23, 2010 LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. (AFNS) -- Two alleged car thieves ran through one of the Luke Air Force Base gates and were confronted immediately by 56th Security Forces Squadron patrols at approximately 11 p.m. Feb. 22, here. When the individuals attempted to drive through a road block and toward an Air Force patrolman, the military member opened fire disabling the vehicle. One of the alleged car thieves died of his injuries. The other was medically evacuated to a local hospital. Base officials are cooperating fully with the local police department as they conduct the investigation.
