Air Operations in Afghanistan:

Soltani
U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for coalition forces. The coalition forces reported taking enemy small-arms fire and requested a show of force. A show of force was conducted, with flares expended and successfully stopped the enemy action.

Later, more F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for a friendly convoy. The aircrew conducted a show of force to deter potential anti-Afghan forces activity in the vicinity of the convoy. The show of force, with flares launched, was successful as no enemy action was noted.

Surkhabad
U.S. Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The pilots were tasked with several missions while on station. First, pilots conducted a show of force for friendly forces taking enemy small-arms fire. The show of force was considered successful when the enemy fire ceased. Then, when friendly forces reported taking enemy fire at another location, pilots conducted armed overwatch of a compound thought to be the source of enemy fire.

U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The pilots were re-assigned to conduct reconnaissance of a suspicious compound then resumed their previous tasking. When an anti-coalition forces rocket-propelled-grenade team was observed in the area, pilots conducted a show of force to deter a possible enemy engagement. The show of force was successful as no action was noted.

Musa Qala
Coalition pilots were providing armed overwatch for friendly forces when they were tasked to conduct reconnaissance for any enemy forces in the vicinity of friendly forces. The pilots conducted a show of force in order to deter enemy action as friendly forces came under attack. The show of force was declared successful when no further enemy action was noted.
