Air operations in Afghanistan:

Sangin
Air Force MQ-9A Reaper operators provided data to friendly forces on the ground to successfully interdict a suspected enemy vehicle.

Later, the same aircraft provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. When enemy personnel were observed with a weapon in close proximity to friendly forces, a request for air support was made. Once coordinates for the enemy position were received, the aircraft released precision-guided munitions in a pre-emptive strike on the target and eliminated a potential threat to friendly forces. No further enemy action was noted.

Now Zad
A coalition aircraft provided armed overwatch and force protection for friendly forces. The aircraft was tasked to observe suspicious activities of an enemy forces group. Later, a weapon was positively identified in the possession of enemy forces. A precision-guided munition was fired in a pre-emptive strike on the enemy position and the threat to friendly forces was eliminated.

Asadabad
An Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrew provided armed overwatch and surveillance for a friendly forces patrol. The aircrew observed and confirmed the location of an enemy ambush position and requested permission to engage the enemy forces. A precision-guided munition was released against the enemy position and neutralized the threat of an ambush of the friendly forces patrol.

Later in the day, the same F-15E aircrew again provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. As the aircraft was checking off station, the crew conducted a show of force over friendly forces to deter any potential anti-Afghan forces activity. The show of force was deemed successful when no enemy action was noted.

Shurakian
Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and a stalled friendly forces convoy. When friendly forces reported suspicious enemy activity, shows of force were requested to deter enemy aggression. The shows of force were deemed successful when no enemy action occurred.

Moqor
Air Force MQ-9A Reaper operators and B-1B Lancer pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces and Afghan National Army forces. Both groups reported taking enemy fire and requested air support against enemy fighting positions. Both aircraft engaged with precision-guided munitions against two enemy fighting positions. Friendly forces were able to continue their mission when the enemy fire ceased.

Qal-E-Naw
An Air Force F-15E aircrew provided armed overwatch and route reconnaissance for friendly forces. The aircraft was instructed to conduct a show of force to deter any anti-Afghan forces activity in the area. The show of force succeeded as no enemy action was noted.

Salerno
Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcons provided armed overwatch and force protection for friendly and coalition forces. The pilot observed and reported suspicious activities in the area as coalition forces reported receiving indirect enemy fire. The pilot conducted a show of force over friendly positions to deter any further enemy action. The show of force was success when the enemy action ceased.

Gereshk
Coalition aircraft provided armed overwatch for a friendly forces patrol. Once on station, the aircraft conducted a show of force in the vicinity of where the friendly forces reported taking enemy fire. The show of force was deemed successful as the enemy fire ceased and the suspicious personnel returned to their homes.

Lashkar Gah
Coalition aircraft provided armed overwatch for Afghan National Army and coalition forces patrols. The patrols reported being under fire by enemy forces and requested a show of force to deter the enemy fire. The show of force successfully stopped the enemy fire and allowed the patrols to resume their missions.

Asmar
An Air Force F-15E aircrew provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrew conducted a show of force in order to deter any anti-Afghan force activity in the area. The show of force was successful as no enemy action was noted in the area.

Balocan
Navy F/A-18C Hornets provided close-air support for friendly forces. Once on station, the aircraft conducted a show of force to deter enemy activity. The show of force was deemed successful.

F/A-18s provided close air support for a coalition forces patrol. Once on station, the aircraft conducted a show of force over an anti-Coalition forces compound. The show of force was deemed successful.

Parmakan
Air Force F-15E crew members provided armed overwatch and surveillance for a coalition forces operation to capture key anti-Afghan forces personnel. When coalition forces came under imminent threat of attack, the aircrew conducted a show of force. The show of force was successful as no enemy activity was noted during the operation.

Pilots flying Air Force F-16Cs provided air support during a preplanned mission. Pilots released precision-guided munitions in order to facilitate terrain denial to enemy forces. The mission was deemed successful.
