Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and International Security Assistance Force troops in Afghanistan during operations Dec. 29, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan:

Asadabad
An Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The friendly forces requested air power assistance in the form of a precision-guided munition. The F-16 delivered a precision munition against a suspected enemy position and succeeded in destroying the enemy fighting position. No further enemy action was noted.

Asmar
An Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The friendly forces requested a show of force. The show of force, with flares expended, was considered successful when no enemy action was noted.

Konduz
F-16C aircraft provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. A show of force was requested overhead due to recent enemy small-arms fire in the area. The show of force was performed and considered successful when no additional enemy fire was noted.

Balocan
An Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. When friendly forces reported taking enemy small-arms fire they requested air support. The points of origin for the enemy fire were confirmed and coordinates passed to the aircraft. The aircraft marked the target with rockets, then made numerous cannon-fire strafing runs on the enemy fighting position along a treeline. The strafing runs successfully ended the enemy fire against friendly forces.

Chahar Bagh
Coalition aircraft provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrews observed suspicious activity in an enemy compound and friendly forces reported receiving enemy fire from the direction of the enemy compound. A request for a show of force to deter the enemy action was received. The show of force was successful as no further enemy fire was noted.

Jalalabad
An F-15E provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircraft was instructed to perform a show of force over an area where friendly forces were operating to deter any potential enemy action. The show of force, with flares expended, succeeded as no enemy action was noted.

Lashkar Gah
Coalition aircraft provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Once on station, the aircraft responded to a friendly forces request for a show of force. The friendly forces reported taking enemy fire from several directions. The show of force was deemed successful when the enemy fire ceased.

Mushan
Coalition aircraft provided armed overwatch and reconnaissance for friendly forces. A request for a show of force was received when enemy forces were observed in the vicinity of friendly forces. The show of force was successful in deterring any potential enemy action as none was noted.
