Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan during operations Dec. 3 according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air operations in Afghanistan:
Asadabad
Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft flew armed overwatch for friendly forces. Friendly forces requested shows of force to deter any potential enemy action. The shows of force (some with flares expended) were successfully performed as no enemy action was noted.

Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. When suspicious enemy activity was observed at an enemy fighting position, a call for air support was made. Coordinates for the enemy fighting position were confirmed and precision-guided munitions were released on the target coordinates neutralizing the threat to friendly forces.

Balocan
F-16s were providing armed overwatch for friendly forces. When the friendly forces reported taking enemy fire, a request for air power support was made. The enemy fire point of origin was confirmed. Precision-guided munition were released on the enemy position and successfully destroyed the enemy threat.

Sheykhabad
Air Force B-1B Lancer aircraft provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. When Afghan National Security Forces reported taking sporadic enemy fire, shows of force were requested to deter the enemy action. The shows of force were conducted and ended the enemy small arms fire.

Tani
F-16s provided armed overwatch and surveillance for friendly forces. The friendly forces reported receiving enemy small arms fire and shows of force were requested to deter the enemy aggression. The shows of force were deemed successful when enemy fire was ceased.

Chahar Bagh
Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft were providing armed overwatch and surveillance for friendly forces. When the friendly forces reported taking enemy fire, the point of origin was confirmed to be from an enemy compound. A strafing run was made that destroyed the enemy position and stopped the enemy fire.

Coalition aircraft provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. When enemy forces fired on the friendly position, a request for a show of force was made. The show of force was performed and considered successful when the enemy fire ceased.

Abchakan
F-15Es provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. When friendly forces requested shows of force to deter potential anti-Afghan forces action, the shows of force were considered successfully performed when no enemy action was noted.

Bala Murghab
Coalition aircraft provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. When enemy forces fired on the friendly position, a request for shows of force was made. The shows of force were performed and considered successful when the enemy fire ceased.

Air operations in Iraq:
Al Amarah
F-16s provided armed overwatch and reconnaissance for friendly forces. When suspicious activity (possible smuggling) was observed on the local waterway, requests for shows of force were received. As the shows of force (some with flares expended) were performed, the motorboat beached itself and the occupants appeared to throw multiple unknown items out of the boat. The smuggling operation was successfully thwarted. Later that day, a show of force was conducted to disrupt a similar suspicious activity.
