Nov. 6 airpower summary Published Nov. 10, 2009 SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFNS) -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan during operations Nov. 6 according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here. Air Operations in Afghanistan: Asadabad Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcons flew armed overwatch for friendly forces. Coordinates were relayed to the aircraft operator. Once the enemy position was confirmed, then missiles were fired on the target destroying the enemy position. Konduz Air Force F-15E Strike Eagles and F-16Cs conducted armed overwatch for a friendly forces patrol and a friendly forces convoy. As the patrol and convoy approached various known enemy-fighting points on their routes, shows of force (some with flares expended) were performed to deter any potential enemy action. The shows of force were successful. F-15Es provided armed overwatch for friendly ground forces. The aircraft were also providing reconnaissance of the area for the friendly forces.
