Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and International Security Assistance Force troops in Afghanistan during operations Nov. 2 according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan:

Sangin
Navy F/A-18E Super Hornets flew armed overwatch for friendly forces. A show of force was requested to continue the deterrence of enemy action in the area.

Navy F/A-18C Hornets conducted armed overwatch of a coalition forces convoy. A show of force was requested when coalition forces in a compound in the area reported receiving small-arms fire. A show of force, with flares, was performed and silenced enemy fire.

Navy F/A-18A Hornets flew armed overwatch for a friendly armored convoy. A request for a show of force was received and the show of force was successfully performed.

Konduz
An Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon and an F-15E Strike Eagle provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. When the friendly forces reported receiving enemy fire, shows of force were requested and were successful in ending the enemy fire.

Other F-16Cs were providing armed overwatch for friendly forces. When the friendly forces received enemy small-arms fire, a request for air power support was issued. When the points of origin for the enemy fire were confirmed in treeline positions, precision-guided munitions were employed on the enemy positions and were destroyed, ending enemy fire.

F-15E Strike Eagles provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. When the friendly forces reported receiving enemy small-arms fire, a request for support was made. Once the enemy position was confirmed, shows of force were conducted to deter the enemy fire and then continue the deterrence of the enemy fire.

Later in the day, F-15E aircraft were supporting friendly forces. A request for a show of force was made to continue the deterrence of enemy fire. The show of force was considered successful.

Moqor
Navy F/A18F Super Hornets were providing overwatch for coalition forces. The aircraft also provided reconnaissance of the area looking for suspicious activity. The aircrews performed a show of force to deter any enemy action, which was considered successful.

Tigari
F-15Es provided overwatch and reconnaissance for a friendly forces convoy. Shows of force were requested to deter any enemy action along the convoy route. The shows of force were performed, with flares expended, and were considered successful.

Asmar
F-15Es provided overwatch for a damaged friendly forces vehicle that had been stuck by an improvised explosion device. A request for air power assistance was received and a precision-guided munition was released on the target destroying the enemy position. Subsequent shows of force were conducted to deter further enemy action.

F-16Cs provided overwatch for a friendly forces patrol that had bedded down for the night when enemy forces were observed approaching the patrol. A precision-guided munition was released on the enemy forces to eliminate the threat to the friendly forces.

Morghab
Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs provided overwatch for friendly forces. Shows of force were requested to deter enemy and reassure the troops and locals that air power was present. The shows of force were performed, with flares expended, and were considered successful.
