Air Force officials announce USAFE command changes

Air Force officials announced Oct. 30  the commander of U.S. Air Forces in Europe will retire early next year, concluding a 40-year military career.

Gen. Roger A. Brady served as commander of USAFE since January 2008 and as the commander of NATO's Air Component Command, Ramstein Air Base, Germany and director of NATO's Joint Air Power Competency Center.

Lt. Gen. Mark A. Welsh III has been named to succeed General Brady, and has been confirmed by the Senate for appointment to the grade of general. He is currently the associate director of the Central Intelligence Agency for Military Support and Military Affairs in Washington, D.C.

The date of General Brady's retirement and USAFE change of command has not been announced.
