U.S. Navy celebrates 234 years of service

Since Oct. 13, 1775, when the Continental Congress of the United States recognized the need for naval forces, the United States Navy has been vital in protecting our national security.

From its humble beginnings with merely two sailing vessels to what is now the most powerful Navy in the world, the heroism and courage of the Sailors who have fought our nation's wars are alive and well. The Airmen of U.S. Air Force would like to wish the Sailors of the U.S. Navy a happy 234th birthday.
