'Today's Air Force' features projection of air power Published Oct. 5, 2009 SAN ANTONIO (AFNS) -- In this edition of "Today's Air Force," U. S. and Japanese airmen exchange ideas and information, Army Black Hawk pilots get a little help from the Air Force for training missions over Misawa and college football fever hits bases overseas. It's common for people to join the military for the benefits and according to some officials, free education is often the biggest motivator. While a certain security forces member says he joined for those reasons, he chooses to stick around because he's found a job he enjoys. In Iraq, even the seemingly simple task of hauling materials to a construction site can be fraught with danger. To help, a group of Airmen have been tasked with making sure convoys carry the maximum loads while presenting as small a target as possible. If you're a fan of mixed martial arts, then chances are you know the name B.J. Penn. One of the top lightweight fighters in the world, Penn spent some time outside the octagon visiting Airmen in Hawaii. The 30-minute, weekly news show can be seen every day on The Pentagon Channel and American Forces Television Service stations around the world.
