Air Force announces 2009 HENAAC, STEM award winners Published Sept. 28, 2009 RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFNS) -- Air Force officials here selected four individuals to be honored as this year's Hispanic Engineering National Achievement Awards Corporation and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Awards Program winners. The Professional Achievement Winner in the military category is Maj. William Ochoa, the deputy chief of the Air Force's nuclear analysis division, studies and analysis directorate at the Pentagon. Luminary Award winners are: --Lt. Col. Karen Castillo, the deputy director of contracting, human resources, and corporate development at the Office of Scientific Research in Arlington, Va. --Michael Gallegos, the chief of the Air Force Research Laboratory's infrastructure branch at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M. --Capt. Christine Palomo Navarro, a 54th Air Refueling Squadron instructor pilot at Altus AFB, Okla. The award winners will receive their accolades during the HENACC STEM Career Conference and Awards Show Oct. 8 in Long Beach, Calif.
