Elmendorf Airmen convicted, sentenced for UCMJ violations Published Sept. 4, 2009 ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska (AFNS) -- An Elmendorf Air Force Base Airman was sentenced to 12 months confinement, reduction in rank to E-1 and a bad-conduct discharge for using "an interactive computer service for carriage in interstate or foreign commerce, obscene, lewd, lascivious, or filthy pictures or other matter of indecent character." Tech. Sgt. Leslie A. Torrance of the 703rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron was tried and convicted by general court-martial Aug. 25, 2009, here. An investigation uncovered pictures of children depicted in a lewd or lascivious manner on his computer, which is a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1462. In a second case, another Elmendorf Airman was sentenced to 90 days confinement, reduction in rank to E-1, restriction to base for 30 days and 90 days of hard labor without confinement for violation of Uniform Code of Military Justice Article 115 -- malingering, the act of intentionally injuring oneself to avoid deployment. Airman Daniel S. Healey of the 3rd Operations Support Squadron was tried and convicted by Special Court-Martial Aug. 13. Airman Healey attempted to injure himself on several different occasions between May 6 and May 13, 2009.
