Hundreds of Air National Guard officials will gather here Sept. 21 through 25 to plan for domestic and civil support operations at the ANG Domestic Operations Essential 10 Requirements Conference.

The conference will join subject matter and planning experts in working groups to discuss and prioritize homeland defense and civil support requirements for the Air Guard's funding, manning and equipment needs.

"I am very enthusiastic about this event and ask your full support as we craft the ANG of the future," Lt. Gen. Harry M. Wyatt III, the Air Guard director.

Attendees include Guard members and top officials from the National Guard Bureau, Army and Air Guard Readiness Centers, Headquarters Air Force, 1st Air Force and U.S. Northern Command.

Subject matter experts include those serving in command and control, firefighting, search and rescue, mobility, air sovereignty alert, communications, security, engineering and civil support roles.

Officials said the conference is modeled after the highly successful Air Guard and Air Force Reserve Weapons and Tactics Conference held each October in Tucson, Ariz.

More than 1,000 Airmen attend that conference at which they roadmap their weapons systems and tactics needs into an annual book.

General Wyatt said the Domestic Operations Essential 10 Requirements Conference, like the Weapons and Tactics Conference, will produce an "Essential 10 Modernization" book listing their top, validated domestic operations requirements for the Air Guard. The book is a culmination of inputs from key subject matter experts at the states and strategic planners.

Officials said domestic operations requirements must be field driven, and the conference provides the platform to discuss and prioritize them.

"Your ... goals and objectives and your champion actions will ensure our wings, states and the ANGRC directorates are in lock step with our vision, goals and objectives," said Maj. Gen. Patrick J. Moisio, the Air Guard deputy director.
