Airman's Roll Call: Fourth of July safety Published July 1, 2009 SAN ANTONIO (AFNS) -- This week's Airman's Roll Call focuses on safety during the upcoming Fourth of July weekend. The Air Force traditionally experiences the highest number of fatalities always between the July 1 through 7 timeframe. The Air Force developed the 101 Critical Days of Summer campaign in the late 1960s to counter the traditional increase in mishaps and fatalities during the summer months. This year's theme is "Together we are Saving Lives this Summer" began on May 25 and ends Sept. 7. For more information about read this week's Airman's Roll Call.
