ROTC commander, instructor positions open for total force officers Published June 26, 2009 RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFNS) -- Air Education and Training Command officials here announced June 25 projected Air Force ROTC detachment commander and instructor vacancies for summer 2010 and opened vacant 2009 instructor positions to air Reserve component officers. Lieutenant colonels may apply for the detachment commander positions, while first lieutenants, (with one year time in grade by Oct. 31, 2009) captains and majors can apply for instructor positions. Interested active-duty officers must complete a statement of intent and receive release approval from their assignments team before applying. AFPC officials will notify each officer of release status by the end of July. Eligibility requirements, statements of intent, application processes and position openings for the summer 2010 and remaining 2009 positions are available at AFPC's "Ask" Web site by searching for "Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps." To help fill vacant 2009 positions, Air Force leaders approved reinstatement of the Air Force ROTC Limited Period Recall Program for Guard and Reserve officers. The Air Force ROTC LPRP allows an air Reserve component line officer the opportunity to apply for recall to extended active duty to fill a specific, vacant 2009 Air Force ROTC detachment instructor position for a period of three years. At the current time, Guard and Reserve officers are ineligible to apply for summer 2010 vacancies. Detailed eligibility criteria and application requirements for the Air Force ROTC LPRP program is available at AFPC's "Ask" site.
