An Air Force officer was recently recognized for steadfast and efficient leadership of a 60,000-person engineering force.

The Federal Real Property Association awarded Maj. Gen. Del Eulberg, Air Force Civil Engineer, with the Leading People Award and the overall Federal Real Estate Person of the Year.

"General Eulberg provided the leadership and vision to chart the transformation of the civil engineers command to meet the challenges of the Air Forces future," FRPA President Kimberly Price said.

The FRPA annually presents the award to individuals committed to developing and implementing an organizational vision which integrates key national and program goals, priorities, values and other factors.

The individual must also balance change while continually striving to improve customer service and program performance with the federal real estate community. Additionally the individual must lead a work environment that encourages creative thinking, sustained focus, intensity and persistence, even under adversity.

"For both awards, it was clear that General Eulberg demonstrated exactly the qualities for which the awards were created," Ms. Price said. She added that General Eulberg was instrumental in providing a more effective civil engineering warfighter capability to meet current and emerging requirements.

"These awards are indicative of Del's determination to lead the Air Force in setting a trend for total asset management and visibility, helping in the transformation of the diverse weapons systems within the services," Lt. Gen. Loren Reno, deputy chief of staff for logistics, installations and mission support, said.

General Eulberg was responsible for installation support functions at 166 Air Force bases worldwide with an annual budget of more than $17 billion. He was also responsible for planning, development, construction, maintenance, utilities and the environmental quality of Air Force bases worldwide valued at more than $204 billion.

Previous FRPA award winners include Jay Hicks, State Department in 2008 and Stan Kaczmarczyk, General Services Administration, Office of Governmentwide Policy, Principal Deputy Associate Administrator in 2007.
