U.S. helicopter responds in self-defense

Members of the 129th Rescue Squadron responded in self-defense when they came under hostile fire May 10 during a flying mission out of Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan.

The 129th Rescue Squadron flies HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters with a primary mission of performing combat search and rescue tasks, including personnel recovery and medical evacuation. 

Members of the 129th RQW are deployed to an air base in Southwest Asia and from Moffett Federal Airfield, Calif.
