Hawthorn House earns license to expand nursing services

  • Published
Officials at Hawthorn House, the Air Force Enlisted Village's assisted living facility, have announced that the state of Florida has granted Limited Nursing Services licensure through the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration. The AHCA is one of the agencies that regulate the quality of healthcare for the state.

"Our granting license report from AHCA had a 100% error-free grade!" said Jennifer Carron, Hawthorn House administrator. "That is our fourth consecutive inspection by an outside agency that was error free, and that speaks volumes about the work our staff is doing.

"The LNS license allows Hawthorn House to serve our widows with additional nursing services, giving them the comfort of 'aging in place', which is essential to their well being," she said. "Our nursing staff now includes an RN to assist in assessments and to give even more Certified Nursing Assistant training."

The LNS license came within two months of application. Additional services include wound care, help with circulation hose, administration of oxygen flow and many other areas to include HOSPICE practices that can take place in-house.

"We are making steps toward 'total care' for our residents," said James C. Binnicker, president and CEO for the Air Force Enlisted Village. "The addition of Hawthorn House was our first venture into allowing our community the continuation of complete care."
