Creech Airmen received a surprise Christmas day when Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz and his wife Suzie visited the base.

It was the second time in as many weeks that the Schwartz family visited the northern Nevada base. General and Mrs. Schwartz returned to Creech on the holiday to thank Airmen for their service and contributions to the war on terrorism.

The general and his wife visited with Airmen assigned to the 15th and 17th reconnaissance squadrons as well as the Airmen assigned to the 42nd Attack Squadron. They also met with personnel assigned to the 99th Security Forces Squadron, Creech Fire Department and 432nd Maintenance Group and Airmen at the dining facility.

Airmen at all these units keep operations running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Their deployed-in-place mission has been key in getting critical intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance to warfighters.

"Thank you for everything you do to keep this very important mission going," General Schwartz said. "What you're doing may not be obvious to everyone and we truly thank you for all you do."

Airmen working at Creech thought the visit was a true testament to the support they receive from leaders at all levels.

"It was really nice to see our (leaders) coming by to say hello to us on Christmas," said Senior Airman James Koth, 432nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. "We don't mind working on Christmas, that's what we're here for, but it's nice to see them stop by."

Col. Chris Chambliss, 432nd Wing and 432nd Air Expeditionary Wing commander, and his wife, Linda, hosted General Schwartz and Mrs. Schwartz during their visit to Creech. Colonel Chambliss said he was fortunate to have the opportunity to help bring some holiday cheer to the hard working men and women here.

"We all know our mission doesn't stop," Colonel Chambliss said. "We have world-class men and women who are dedicated in what they do. Today was chance for senior leadership to thank them."
