In his latest "Enlisted Perspective," the Air Force's top enlisted Airman focuses his attention on taking care of Airmen and their families, reinforcing the Air Force's commitment from all levels.

"I know there are many issues causing us stress today,"  Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force Rodney J. McKinley said.  "We are a nation fighting a war on two fronts. Many Airmen are in a tough deployment schedule. Others remaining at home station may be swamped from picking up the extra workload of the deployed Airmen.

"Some Airmen are being hit hard in their investments or by fluctuations in the housing market. Many more may struggle to pay their bills or (suffer) from the strain of higher day-to-day living expenses,"  Chief McKinley said.

He said the Air Force has seen an increase in the number of suicides as Airmen are battling these burdens.  The losses are tragic not only for the Air Force, but for the family, friends and peers left behind.

"We want you to know, no matter the trouble or how hopeless the situation may seem, there is always someone who can help... someone you can turn to," Chief McKinley said.

This "Enlisted Perspective" and other senior leader viewpoints can be found on the library section of Air Force Link.
