Pentagon officials developed the Military Personnel Appropriation Medical Continuation to ensure Reserve and Guard members supporting the war on terrorism are taken care of.

Military Personnel Appropriation Medical Continuation ensures Air Reserve Component members injured or become ill receive the medical care and treatment they are entitled to by validating active duty medical-specific orders until they are returned to the duty, or processed through the Disability Evaluation System.

The Military Personnel Appropriation Medical Continuation is staffed by six Air Reserve Component medical continuation managers with medical backgrounds. The medical continuation division is part of the Air Force Medical Operations Agency at Port San Antonio.

Military Personnel Appropriation Medical Continuation managers facilitate navigation and interpretation of policies in coordination with the Air Force Surgeon General's Office, Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command, and HQ National Guard Bureau.  Military Personnel Appropriation Medical Continuation managers coordinate with military treatment facilities, civilian heath care providers, case managers, medical units, military personnel flights and Air Staff agencies to ensure injured or ill Air Reserve Component members do not sustain a break in service or healthcare benefits, essentially, demanding that members receive the same level of respect and treatment given to our regular active duty forces.
