'Today's Air Force' features unmanned aircraft systems Published Oct. 13, 2008 SAN ANTONIO (AFNS) -- This edition of "Today's Air Force" highlights the Air Force's unmanned aircraft systems, or UAS, and how Air Force officials plan to train more UAS operators. And more Airmen are finding themselves in non-traditional roles. At Joint Base Balad in Iraq, a segment shows how the skills Airmen possess are being used not only to serve the Air Force but other services as well. Also featured is how Air Force service members pay respect to those who came before them. See a powerful account about one prisoner of war who shares his story and offers advice for today's Airmen.
