Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force Rodney J. McKinley spoke to Airmen at the Air Force 61st Birthday Celebration at Bolling Air Force Base, D.C., Sept. 18.

Chief McKinley opened the celebration with a speech, highlighting events involving Airmen and the Air Force that happened since last year's celebration.

"A year ago today, we were engaged in a year-long celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Air Force," Chief McKinley said. "We looked from our heritage to our horizons. Today we find ourselves in that horizon. True, this future finds us still a nation at war,  but we are warriors. We have answered our nation's call and we will accomplish this, and every mission, with competence and pride.

Chief McKinley continued on to say, our Airmen are doing an incredible job in the Global War on Terror. They are doing exactly what they are trained to do and what their nation has called them to do - fighting to win our nation's wars.
