Air Force Materiel Command receives acquisition authority Published Aug. 28, 2008 WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio (AFPN) -- Air Force Materiel Command officials here recently signed an acquisition authority agreement with Air Force acquisitions officials and now are authorized to pursue services acquisitions valued at up to $500 million. Under the agreement reached in August, AFMC received "Probationary Silver Delegation Authority" from the Air Force Program Executive Office for Combat and Mission Support, commonly called PEO Services. This gives the command the ability to manage and oversee acquisition contracts while providing coordinating information to PEO Services. "This collaborative effort recognizes and codifies our commitment to excellence in providing superior Air Force operational and mission support services," said Michael Gill, the director of contracting for AFMC. "We are excited to be in the forefront of developing and implementing the processes, which will sustain the aerospace power needed for today's and tomorrow's warfighters." The agreement covers contractor support for major weapon system sustainment, flight test support and base operations for such programs as the KC-10 Extender and KC-135 Stratotanker.
