In his current Letter to Airmen, the acting secretary of the Air Force designated the month of August for strategic planning and explains how the Air Force's top leaders will focus on a number of issues.

"Along with General Schwartz and other senior leaders, I am reviewing a range of issues that require immediate attention, as well as some that will require a deeper and longer look," acting Secretary Michael B. Donley said.

Secretary Donley said that the Air Force nuclear enterprise, end strength and the intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance posture were part of the current issues that have leadership interest.

"Each of us depends on the actions of others, and we expect that all Airmen hold themselves, their teammates, and their organizations to the highest standards of performance, ethics, and accountability," he said.
