Changes to current Course 12, 14 enrollments announced Published June 17, 2008 By Carl Bergquist Air University Public Affairs MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. (AFPN) -- Before senior NCOs are eligible for a senior rater endorsement, there are certain educational requirements that must be met. The first is a Community College of the Air Force degree, and the second is completion of either Course 12 or 14, which are senior NCO professional military education distance learning courses. As of June 1, Headquarters College for Enlisted Professional Military Education has changed the current Course 12 and 14 enrollment periods from 12 months to an open enrollment not to exceed 72 months. Tech. Sgt. Travis Pannell, Headquarters CEPME distance learning course manager at Gunter Annex said the policy will help all eligible Airmen complete the course while accommodating deployments and other service responsibilities. In the past, the coursework for the senior NCO distance learning was available to senior NCOs through two methods: Course 12, which provides the curricula on a CD-ROM, and Course 14, the online version. Both courses offer the exact same material. The college has also lifted all Course 12 and 14 student enrollment restrictions. Students currently serving an enrollment restriction are eligible to re-enroll as of June 1. "Students who decide to re-enroll after restrictions are lifted will have to start from the beginning of the course," he said. "Partial course credit will not be granted to previously disenrolled students." Sergeant Pannell said currently Course 14 can only be accessed through an active Internet connection; but an "off-line option" is slated to start January 1. Students can enroll in Course 12 until Dec. 31, but after that date, all distance-learning students will have to enroll in Course 14. "For students with current active enrollment who are concerned about restrictions or disenrollment, they need not worry," Sergeant Pannell said. "Enrollment data will automatically be adjusted to meet the new policy."
