Air Force Clubs are offering 25 scholarships valued at $1,000 each to club members and their families through a themed essay contest.

Essays must be 500 words or less and written on the subject of "The Most Important Person in My Life."

Interested applicants may visit the Air Force Clubs Web site for rules and eligibility information, entry forms, submission guidelines and examples of past winning entries. Submission deadline for the scholarship contest is July 1, and winners will be announced Sept. 19.

"This is a special program for club members and their dependants," said Steve Cowan, Air Education and Training Command club program manager.

Mr. Cowan emphasized the importance of carefully following the contest guidelines.

"(In the past) I was disappointed to find a number of applicants disqualified because they did not follow the instructions," Mr. Cowan said. "Please visit the Web site for full details and requirements."

The scholarship program is sponsored in part by Chase Bank and Coca-Cola.
