The Air Force-sponsored Wood Brothers Racing Team announced their participation in a NASCAR campaign that runs ahead of the May 17 All-Star Challenge at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C.

Racing enthusiasts and fans alike can log on to the NASCAR Web site to vote for Bill Elliott, the driver of the No. 21 Air Force Ford Fusion, assuring that he gets elected to a spot in the Saturday race as a recognized racing superstar.

Mr. Elliott will drive in the Sprint Showdown preceding the All-Star Challenge. The "Showdown" is two, 20-lap races where the top two finishers automatically advance to the Challenge. If Mr. Elliott does not take first or second in the Showdown, the additional option is for fans to drop as many online ballots as they can to inaugurate him to a starting position in the All-Star Challenge.

Wood Brothers Racing is enlisting support from Air Force members and supporters to "Vote for Bill."

The driver with the most votes snags a starting position in the All-Star Race. The link http://www.nascar.com/promos/allstar/vote will take fans directly to the site, but voters must register before voting for it to count.

Another avenue is for race fans to call on their cell phones to cast a vote for Bill Elliott by texting the word 'NASCAR' to 7777 on a Sprint or Nextel phone or by visiting a Sprint store. Each vote by phone counts as two votes.
