Tennis: Falcons fall to TCU

The U.S. Air Force Academy men's tennis team dropped its first Mountain West Conference match of the season falling 7-0 to No. 31 Texas Christian University March 27 at Las Vegas.

The Falcons fell to 10-9 as the Air Force failed to win a single match against TCU.

At No. 1 doubles, sophomore Brett Rodgers and freshman Taylor Soster fell 8-2. Sophomore Austin Francis and freshman Alex Beaussart dropped an 8-5 decision, and sophomore Mike Gies and freshman Johnny Buckingham lost 8-3 at No. 3.

In the singles matches, Rodgers lost in straight sets 6-1 and 6-2 at the top spot, while Francis at No. 2 came up short with 6-3, 6-3 loses. Soster could get nothing going at the No. 3 spot, falling 6-0, 6-1. Buckingham went down 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 4 position, and Beaussart lost 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5. The best singles match came at the No. 6 spot where Gies fought to 6-4, 7-5 loses.

The Falcons continue MWC action March 29 against the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
