'Today's Air Force' features modernizing the force

  • Published
This week's edition of "Today's Air Force" highlights how Air Force officials are modernizing more than just aircraft.

Air Force officials are using anthropometric surveys to design gear, supplies and crew ensembles.

The surveys were necessary to determine the safety requirements of ejection seats, chemical gear and G-suits.

Also in this week's show, one can experience the virtual Air Force. Cyberspace is considered one of the most important battlefields of this century, and a new facility in Georgia is dedicated to the art of electronic warfare.

While it is necessary to employ the most advance methods of technology, other areas of the Air Force are using simple elements of guidance. Airmen are training their Iraqi counterparts by using fire, water and hard work--the old fashion way.

The 30-minute, weekly news show can be seen every day on The Pentagon Channel, American Forces Radio and Television Service stations around the world, and is available via podcast at http://www.af.mil/library/podcast.asp. The show also airs on more than 100 public cable-access stations within the United States.
