Officials announce 2007 Air Force Media Contest winners Published March 7, 2008 SAN ANTONIO (AFPN) -- A panel of civilian journalists, photographers, broadcasters, teachers and public relations professionals selected the best individuals and units in Air Force print, photo and broadcast journalism for the 52nd annual Air Force Media Contest. The media contest is sponsored annually by the Secretary of the Air Force Public Affairs Office and is conducted by Headquarters Air Force News Agency here. Awards are presented to individuals for outstanding achievements in furthering the Air Force strategic communication objectives. Tech. Sgt. Leo Brown from the 442nd Fighter Wing at Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., is the Air Force Print Journalist of the Year. Staff Sgt. Nicholas Kurtz from Det. 10, Air Force News American Forces Network Tokyo at Yokota Air Base, Japan, is the Air Force Broadcast Journalist of the Year. Tech. Sgt. Jeremy Lock from the 1st Combat Camera Squadron at Charleston AFB, S.C., is the Air Force Photographer of the Year. Sergeant Brown, Sergeant Kurtz and Sergeant Lock will join the winners in 25 other broadcast, photo and print journalism categories to represent the Air Force in the annual Department of Defense Thomas Jefferson Awards. Judging for the DOD contest begins March 31; results are scheduled to be announced the second week of April.
